Carimar Beach Club or similar

We're heading down to Anguilla in November.

In the past, have stayed 2xs at Cap Juluca; RBH and the closed Sonesta.

Love CJ; but feel the prices have gotten out of hand;

Will probably take son and his GF so have to keep price in check.

Two years ago, loved the beach villa at RBH...hate the fact that they're closing to build luxury villas..something Anguilla doesn't need more of.

We visited Carimar one day and loved the beach; anyone ever stay there.

Like the fact that it's a condo setup with kitchen.

We also like to have the beach steps from our room; any other suggestions?

We splurge on dinners and wine, so this seems a good setup for us.

We like the beach at Rendezvous Bay and hope Mead's Bay will be similar.

Thanks in advance.

Kathy

You should also check out Ku and Shoal Bay Villas on Shoal Bay East

Turtle's Nest has very spacious apartments as does Frangipani (both on Meads Bay). As the other poster noted, Ku & Shoal Bay Villas are also excellent choices.

P.S. I, too, am very sad about RBH.

Carimar sounds like it would work well for you. I've done it with teens and father and it was fine. Many of the accommodations in Anguilla are designed for couples, so to find a two-bedroom setup is a challenge sometimes. Another good one for us has been Serenity on Upper Shoal Bay. It's a little newer and nicer than some of the others in the moderate range. But if you want to stay near the West End, Carimar or a villa like Ananke, Bow Green or Bayberry/Chinaberry, or even the Anguilla Great House if a kitchen isn't a must, can work. Blue Waters hasn't closed yet, so it might be worth a call to Carolyn regarding availability through the end of the year.

Thanks for the input.

As of now, it looks like it will be just hubby and myself and hubby still wants Cap Juluca.

Hope not to be disappointed reading some unkind reviews regarding the rooms and service there.

Anyone have any recent experience at CJ lately?

4beachnuts,

so you would recommend staying at CJ? You didn't see any wear or tear, etc?

which room did you have at CJ? maybe i'll request the one you stayed in.

i've only been in the deluxe room with the double tub.

thanks,

kathy

The GM told me they had just redone villas 1, 2, and 3 upgrading the marble in the bathrooms, etc. I was in a Junior Suite with a double tub (is this what you're referring to as a Deluxe Room?) further down past George's (don't actually remember the villa number) and it was great. No complaints here.
