I realized that I am writing this exactly a year ago to date. In real time, plus one year ;-)
Installment #2. Thanks for reading along.
You take the prize for the most stamina of all who have posted here. I am astounded at your energy, particularly when you should probably have been in bed with a thermometer in your mouth instead of imbibing a rumzie.
To top it off you have the patience of a saint. I would have been gone from that scammer Proprietress the minute she opened her mouth. Gone, gone, gone!
Waiting for #3.
Thank you for taking the time to write this! I am a fellow addict and hanging on every word!! :)
You write beautifully and I am eagerly awaiting the next installments!
Another great read! Kyla, your writing is just delightful. Thank you.
I am so enjoying following your time on Anguilla.
Very relieved your unexpected house guests left early morning and more relieved they took their baby!! With Anne's track record she may have sold them 2 days childcare courtesy of the ever so nice American lady who rented the property. . . AKA you!! I assume the German couple paid her for a night in the room for which you had already paid. ( BTW I too would have let them stay.)
I admire your stamina in soldiering on despite being really unwell but I would do the same - Anguilla time is to precious to give up to some pesky virus!
I await part three with anticipation - thank you so much for posting
Lol, iluv! I can tell you without a doubt that would that would be the straw that broke the camel's back. I can roll with many challenges, but taking care of someone else's child is definitely not one of them. My own children are handful enough!
Thanks all for reading!
Myheart....great report: 2 Fun Days.
You sound like the planner in your family. Do you ever receive flack about trying to jam too many activities into one day.
One Night Accommodations Cap Juluca $2500
Dinner for two Pimms $300
Sitting smack dab in the middle of Maundays Bay on a white styrofoam cooler with a beer in your hand "Priceless"
Ha! Bleu, I love it.
They are actually pretty game. But they will certainly let it be known when they've reached their limit.
My....Your tale of trying to enjoy Maundays Bay is typical. It's unfortunate that the whole scene is so unwelcoming that people feel intimidated and basically give up. Their plan is working; You need a strategy and some of the regular posters probably have ones that are better than mine. One, is to simply use Blue for lunch. They give you a chair setup with water and the policy 3 years ago was, if you eat at a table, there is no chair fee. It's not a lot different scenario than eating at TT, Nat's, Jacalas or SSS for the chairs/beach/dining arrangement. Can be a reasonably priced lunch. Chat with the wait staff about local things.. Tell them your staying at Sydans. Say you like getting breakfast sandwiches at "Uncles" and ask them for their recommendations. Ask where they like to eat on the Strip. Use your own experiences, not mine and just be genuine. You'll be treated very well.
If your in a more defiant mood, drive up to the gate, tell the attendant your staying at the FS or Mali and you would like to use the gift shop. You will be told to go to the welcome desk and someone will then "escort" you to the boutique. Mill around the boutique for a few minutes. Once on the premises they quit tracking you closely. Go back to your car and get your beach bags with your own food and beverages. Go back out on the beach via the east end of the resort where the restaurants are; don't walk through the lobby again with your gear. Your level of boldness will determine where you place yourself. Sit down and say to yourself "I'm on the Cap Juluca Beach with my car in their parking lot, and I haven't paid a cent"!!!
Bleu, you are the first person I have ever heard of that got lounge chairs at Cap when they weren't staying there. Lucky you.
