Living in Mazaye area

Dear Sir/Madam,

We are planning to relocate from Sydney, Australia, to your region.

Could you tell us, pleas:

1) how many people live there,

2) is there any English speaking doctor nearby,

3) our French language is very poor - could we be accepted in your local community?

We are originally Polish, not Australian, but on our retirement we would like to move to France, to the mountains and to the Country (we do not dream about Alps, it is not for us).

We would greatly appreciate your response and your opinion regarding our crazy plans - tell us, please, what you think.

Best regards and most cordial greetings from Antipodes - Barbara and Marek

I don't want to dampen your enthusiasm but the first question to be asked is : do you have a long term visa? If you have an Australian passport, you cannot stay more than 90 days in France or the EU. If you want to stay longer you need a "permis de séjour" - check with the French embassy in Australia.

Mazaye is a vey small place - approx 800 people. There does not seem to be a doctor in town but it is not far from Clermont Ferrand which is a large city. Being fluent in English is not something French doctors usually advertise , so it is difficult to say. You'd have to ask when you get there.

Last point : it will be very difficult for you to be "accepted" if you don't speak French.
