Rocky coast/cliffs

We are planing on spending several days on the Maine Coast the end of Oct.

We are looking for cliffs/rocks/etc. This is our first trip to Maine, and just want to relax. Any suggestions for location/accomodations/ etc would be greatly appreciated.

Acadia National Park would be a nice place to visit. You could fly into Bangor, Maine, which is only about an hour's drive from Bar Harbor, where you will find many different kinds of accommodations from luxury, waterfront hotels to charming Bed and Breakfast inns.

In general, the further north and east along the Maine coast you go, the more rocky the coast becomes and the more prominent the oceansde cliffs -- not to say there aren't some of both in Southern Maine (the area around Portland Head Light lighthoues in Cape Elizabeth jumps immediately to mind -- as does the Cliff House in Ogunquit. However, a great spot for seeing plenty of both in a short amount of time is in either the Mount Desert Island/Bar Harbor or Schoodic Point sections of Acadia National Park. Of those two, the Mount Desert Island section has more lodging choices and more restaurants nearby. Bonniemaev's suggestion is a good one -- think it would make a great trip for you.
