which is better south or north padre island?
The end of March, we are staying in Austin, travelling to san antonio for a couple of days and wondering is it worth it to travel on to the PI.
It is about 4.5 hour drive from SA to South Padre. South is much better than North (Corpus). That said, it depends exactly when you plan to go as some schools have spring break end of March and SP wil be packed. Another option might be to go to Port A which is closer to Corpus. This is if you are looking for a nice beach.

75 reviews I agree that the water at South Padre is nicer than here, however, I would not believe it to be worth the extra 5 hours round trip if I am just looking for a short beach getaway. Port Aransas should do you just fine. Port A is on Mustang Island, just north of Padre Island. North Padre Island is home to the Padre Island National Seashore.
