October Weather

We are thinking about heading back to Pensacola the first week of October...can anyone tell me what the weather is usually like this time of year, are there lots of tropical storms...cold weather, are the outdoor pools too cool to swim in...etc? This would be our first time going to a beach during a fall month. Any feedback would be great!

Thanks!

Hello, October weather is beautiful, generally speaking. Indian summer is the best time of year down here, IMHO. Tropical storms can occur, though they have not in the past couple of years. Seems like September has been more of an active month for storms in the past. Quite often there will be lots of dragonflies, butterflies flittering through on their migration south. Water temps are warm, air is still warm but not stifling. Don't know about pool temps, suppose it depends on where you are staying. Though lots of people are still swimming in pools that time of year. In October, there is a Greek Festival in Pensacola near downtown, also 1st weekend there is an art and wine event on the beach, and a triathalon. Oct. 13-16 is a giant music festival on the beach called Deluna Fest. This is the same weekend as the Greek Festival. Hope this helps, enjoy your visit!

October is a great month to visit the Gulf Coast. I think you will find the pools suitable for swimming. The weather is usually great during October. And there are no crowds like you find in the summer. Good luck.
