Federal gov shut

We need a plan b for the 3 nights we planned to spend in Zion and bryce national parks starting October 11. we are landing in Las Vegas. We prefer mountains and lakes to desert and enjoy easy hikes and spectacular scenery. Can anyone recommend state or local parks and where to base ourselves if the shutdown happens? I would appreciate your advice.

@ goldengirl

I agree that your comments are not helpful. Park officials are trying to do the best with a tough situation. They would be as happy to see the park reopen as would the rest of us. Soliciting a protest would not benefit anyone.

There has been a wealth of info presented on this forum to those still wanting to travel. So much to see and do outside of the National Parks.

Looks like Utah's governor brokered a deal with the Dept of Interior . All national Parks in Utah look to be opened tomorrow.
