Need a little help on this itinerary

We plan to fly into San Francisco and rent a car. We would then like to travel to Sequoia National Park and then head over to the coast to drive from probably Santa Barbara back to San Francisco. We would also like to see the Hearst Castle. We will then turn in the rental car and stay about four days in San Francisco before we fly home. I'm not sure how many days to allow to make this big circle. We plan to travel around October 15th and I hope we do not have to worry about snow this early, do we? If we figure two days to drive and stay at Sequoia (we are not hikers so we would just like to see the Giant Forest and other items of interest in the area) and three days to return up the coast, does it seem reasonable or do we need to allow more time.

Sure, you can do that. Snow shouldn't be a problem. The weather is usually fine at that time of year.

With three days for the coast, I would maybe forget Santa Barbara and just drive from Sequoia to San Luis Obispo (3 hours or so). This would be your day 3. Stay in one of the neat towns near there - Shell Beach, Avila Beach, Morro Bay or San Luis Obispo itself. Or, if you leave Sequoia early enough, you could make it up to Cambria or San Simeon. On day 4, visit Hearst Castle and drive Highway 1 up to Carmel. Day 5, see some of the sights in Carmel and Monterey (Point Lobos and/or the Monterey Aquarium) and then drive up to San Francisco in the late afternoon.

Of course, another day in Carmel or Monterey would be lovely and if you still wanted to visit Santa Barbara, another couple of days would be a good idea as well.
