Lodging or GTNP and Yellowstone

Hey folks, kinda late to the game but looking for some reasonable lodging in an ideal location for GTNP and Yellowstone for late August. It’s for a family of 4 (all adults) for a week. We will be there August 18th through the 25th and are having a hard time finding reasonably priced hotels with availability. We were thinking maybe a cabin rental in Moran or nearby, but not sure really what our best option would be in terms of location. We’re probably going to do 3 days in each park.

Any help/advice/suggestions appreciated.

you will need to split lodging- unless you want to spend a bunch of time each day driving back and forth. there is no good place to stay to see both easily. Keep calling and checking Zanterra for Yellowstone Lodging, cancellations happen all the time. It may mean moving each night, which isn't a great use of time but can be done. Other option is West Yellowstone- hotels there. I would split 4 in YNP and 2 GTNP, because Yellowstone is so much bigger.

I agree with thbergs- split lodging if no in park then try West Yellowstone for YNP. Also try Signal Mt. or Colter Bay for GTNP or the town of Jackson Hole.

In YNP try to get a day at OFI and 3 in either Canyon or Lake area- call Xanterra or go online. In West Yellowstone we like Three Bear Lodge, Alpine and BW.

Here is a link to the must sees- the park is huge and there is much to see and do in YNP-

Good luck!!
