time spent in Jackson vs Gardiner

I have 4 nights left to plan for my vacation to Wyoming. Would it be better to spend 3 nights in Jackson and 1 in Gardiner, Montana, or 2 and 2? Thanks

Where else are you spending time? Would this be your only shot at days in Yellowstone?

I agree- how much time to see Yellowstone? If this is your only time in the park then you need 2-3 days just to begin to see the park- it is huge. Also for out of the park we prefer West Yellowstone not Gardiner- more lodging and restaurant choices.

Here is a link to must sees for YNP-

Went to UVM. Shelburne and area are lovely.

I'd be very specific about arrival and departure times (assuming an airport), that will play into the responses to your questions. Do not underestimate the huge size of YNP and its miles of roads. GTNP is much smaller. Are you limited to four days?

We will actually have 3 1/2 days at Yellowstone. Then we're going to Jackson to do the Tetons for either 2 or 3 days. Gardiner is just to break up the trip back to Bozman. I just wasn't sure if 1 day was sufficient for that area.

Gardiner is mostly a gateway to Yellowstone, so you can use it as an overnight on the way to Bozeman without scheduling much time to spend actually in Gardiner. You said back to Bozeman- which way are you entering Yellowstone?

If you would like more help planning, include your flight times and exact dates, ages of those traveling and interests.

Maybe look at visiting Quake Lake, Ennis MT and Virginia City MT on the way back to Bozeman from West YS. Also near Bozeman are a number of state parks including Lewis and Clark Caverns and Madison Buffalo Jump
