Do you plan on hiking at Grand Canyon?
If not: 1 night GC, 2 nights Sedona! If you plan on hiking then 2 nights GC, 1 night Sedona. But I have to warn you Sedona deserves more than 1 night!
If you have 4 nights total then split 2-2!!
One night at the Grand Canyon National Park and the rest in in Sedona, whether you have 3 or 4 nights. Book your GC lodging first as that's the tougher reservation to snag.
What do you like to do? Shop, hike, indian ruins, scenic drives, craft breweries, wine tours, astronomy?
Definitely reserve your night at GC now.Edited: 7:19 pm, February 03, 2014
Day 1 arrive Phoenix by mid day. Drive to Sedona. Stay Sedona, also stop along the way to see Montezuma's Castle NM
Day 2 Sedona all day. Jeep tours, hiking etc
Day 3 Drive to GC around noon/early afternoon, enter via the Southern entrance. Spend the night there. Dinner at El Tovar
Day 4 Grand Canyon all day, stay again.
Day 5 Exit out the eastern entrance, if enough time stop to see Wupatki/Sunset Crater Nat Mon, lunch in Flagstaff and then to Phoenix for the night
Day 6 Depart
Thank you. I like this plan -- very helpful. If you have any other "must sees or must dos" to recommend, I'd love to hear.
We are arriving on a Tuesday in Phoenix....haven't made flight arrangements yet so I'm unsure of arrival time. We depart from Phoenix on the following Sunday. So we have Wed., Thurs, Friday, and Saturday full days to sight see.
First thing you MUST do is call Xanterra 888-297-2757 to book a night at the Grand Canyon National Park in whatever lodge you can get. Then plan the rest of your nights at Sedona.
We like scenic drives, short hikes, nature, animals, breweries, local "color" are favorites.
BTW, we're not travel agents here. We are all volunteers. We're not paid for doing this.
