I'm looking for some information to help me create a 'trip of a lifetime' for my Mum. Ever since I was a child (I'm 39!), my Mum has harboured a dream of going to the Grand Canyon. She's had a rough year this year so, for Christmas, she will find that very trip in her stocking!
We fly into Vegas at the end of May 2014, have 2 nights there, then I have hired a car to drive to the GC for 3 nights staying at the Yavapai West Lodge, then on to Sedona for a night before heading to Phoenix to fly home.
I've ordered guide books but would love some top tips, about what we should see/do. Time is limited and I really want to make sure we use it to the best advantage. It would also be great if anyone had ideas for places to stop and things to do to break up the car journeys.
Mum will be 61 when we visit. She's very active, but a few miles walking is probably the limit. Mum loves horses, and I would have loved to take her on a horseback trek in the GC, but I think she might be too nervous. With that in mind, what's the best way of seeing the GC, really seeing and experiencing it, for someone like my Mum?
Any information that you can give me would be hugely appreciated.
