Am I crazy for going in July?

I've seen the seasonal whether highs and lows for July: 84/54 at the South Rim, and 106/78 down in the Canyon. With two small kids, I'm guessing I'll spend more time on the surface than down below. Also, I would imagine that there is very low humidity. Has anyone been to the CG in July, and was it miserable?

We did hit a few 90+ at the rim this year in June/July, but it was unusual. We usually cool down considerably at night, but generally have 1 or 2 weeks when it's just plain hot (Phantom Ranch hit 122 in the shade!). But you can never predict when those weeks will hit. For the most part the summer is very dry until the monsoons start. Then it generally rains for a hour or so around 3-4pm, and then the sun comes back out. But we'll have some humidity during that time (but not like DC!). Sorry I can't be more definite, but at 7,000' elevation the weather is a bit unpredictable.
