What to do between Glacier and Banff?

We have 5 days between reservations at Glacier and Banff. Need ideas of things to do and see that are not more than a few hours drive from either park.

Thanks so much for the great info. We are staying in Flathead Lake, so these suggestions are really useful.

Great list, gnp4me!

You can call or stop by the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce and ask for the free booklet "101 Things To Do in the Flathead". Maybe get it mailed to you before you leave for your trip, so your family can pour over it and figure things out. You should be able to do all 101 Things easily in the next 10 years. :>)

If you are looking for a fun activity while visiting Glacier National Park, a river trip on the Middle Fork of the Flathead is a great way to spend the morning, afternoon, of full-day! Great Northern Resort, located a mile outside of the West Entrance, offers a variety of fun, family-friendly rafting trips that go out daily! The Middle Fork of the Flathead is the southern boundary to Glacier National Park.

An Alberta response to your question...

Waterton is worth at least a day or two. Crowsnest Pass area has Frank Slide interpretive centre for another part-day. The Alberta provincial parks of Kananaskis are worth driving through, and or going through the neighboring national park Kootenay in BC to check out Radium Hotsprings, or on into kootenay country to the town of Invermere. If dinosaurs are your thing, going east instead of west, a trip the the Royal Tyrell Museum at Drumheller Alberta is world class. Have questions? the Travel Alberta site is travelalberta.com/Places%20to%20Go/Regions/S…
