Boseman to glacier. Best route

Am planning a trip to Glacier in June next year. Will be flying into Bozeman so we can go to glacier and yellowstone. Wanting to know what is best time in june to go and what not to miss in glacier. Will have a week in glacier and a week in yellowstone and tenons. Will not be doing any hard core hiking but would like some easy to moderate trail hikes. thanks

I'd do the trip to Glacier at the end of your trip.......going to the sun road didn't, open until June 17 this year.

If staying in either park make reservations early!

Hope you have a lot of time as that is a lot of area to cover in one vacation in my opinion.

We've done both in one trip and it can be done. Flying into Bozeman is a good option- just be sure your rental car has unlimited miles.

Best to go mid June or later and I agree to do Yellowstone first and then Glacier. Make reservations soon for next year. We enjoyed driving up the Pintler Scenic Hwy between Butte and Missoula then on the west side of Flathead lake thru Polson and on to the west side of Glacier. We stayed on the west side because we were late in making reservations for in park lodging. We also enjoyed the town of Whitefish. Be sure and eat lunch in St. Marys at the Park Cafe- they have yummy home made pies.

Good luck with your trip planning.

Yes, make it as late as possible and do Yellowstone first! From Bozeman, you could get into the park via Gardiner, then loop down to the Tetons and back up and over the Beartooth Highway to Red Lodge (as long as it is open -- hence, late June).

From Red Lodge, going over to Phillipsburg and the Pintlar would be out of the way, so I'd go north from Columbus (via Absarokee out of Red Lodge).

Assuming you spend the night in Red Lodge, drive Columbus - Rapelje (RAP ul jee) - Harlotown (known as Harlo) or Columbus - Big Timber - Harlo. From Harlo, up to Hobson and east to Great Falls, then on to Choteau and the park. It is a 300 mile day, so possibly stay the night in Great Falls, Lewistown or ?

You could also take the interstate back to Three Forks and then up to Great Falls and Choteau that way, but it takes just as long.

Returning to Bozeman, try the west side of the Rockies like Peach Belle suggests.
