If you like wildlife and good scenery, you should advance book the shuttle bus to at least Fish Creek, mile 66--8hrs, or Wonder Lake, mile 85---12 hrs, r/t. It depends on when you are going, how much you want to see, and how long kids can ride school bus looking for animals? There are also dog sled demos at 10am,2pm and 4pm each day near front of park. There is also new visitor center with a movie or slide show. There is also rafting in vincinity, dinner show one evening. Try to do shuttle bus early in morning, take food and drink with you, We had ice chest, can get sandwiches at subway. The tundra tour is to mile 53, costs three times as much and includes bad lunch, used mostly by cruisetours for their denali visit. Do not take the shorter natural history tour, 3 hrs, which does not go far enough to see many animals. Stop at Talkeetna for lunch or nice walking thru neat little town. About 2 hrs from denali. This is where summit flts of denali are done, as well as glacier landings up on mtn.

Stop in at Princess Lodge right on the main highway just out side the National Park entrance. The customer service desk can schedule any tour you want. Take a bus all the way to Wonder Lake where you can pan for gold which the kids might like. There is also a boat ride to a real working gold mining / fur trapping camp. Or for a little excitement take a helicopter or fixed wing flight to the mountain.
