Death Valley from Vegas in December

Hello All,

We are planning a trip to Death Valley in December this year. We plan to fly into Vegas on the 19th and then drive to Death Valley on the 20th. Our plan is to spend four days in the park and head back to Vegas by 24th morning.

We like hiking, photographing scenic views but not looking to drive for too long on unpaved roads. We would like to go to artist’s palette, Zabriskie point, bad water, mesquite sand dunes, manly lake and Dante’s view point. Do you recommend any other place? Also, is four days too long for covering these places in death valley?

As an alternative we are considering spending 1.5 to 2 days in Death Valley and then drive to Sequoia national park and spend two days there. Is December a good time to go to Sequoia national park? Also, would we do justice to both places since we have 4 days total.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Good decision. You'll never forget a stay in DVNP. For Titus Canyon. We consider this as one of the most scenic drives in DV and around but you'll need at least high clearance. Maybe also add Ash Meadows in eastern DV to the mix. It's not often visited but there's a great boardwalk along the creek . Gravel roads to get there but they are flat and well maintained.
