Solar Eclipse

We are fortunate enough to be arriving at Bryce on the 20th of May. We are staying at the Slot Canyon Inn. Do you have suggestions about the park that evening that would make it less of a hassle as the eclipse will start around 6:20 PM?

What time to get there, where to park, best site for viewing the eclipse etc.?

Its a big event, so not really sure how crowded it will be.I would definitely plan to be there early though, or spend the day in the park and not leave.

The park website has some info:

Randi posted this link in the Cedar City forum.

The best sites for viewing the complete ring of fire (my understanding anyway) is from the Kanarraville/Cedar City area 1 1/2 hrs southwest of Bryce, but Bryce has an astronomy festival planned May 17-20th so I assume the eclipse will be part of that.

You can check out;

Bryce Canyon Astronomy Festival, 435-834-5322

For the entire country don't forget the "super full moon" rising tomorrow night, when the full moon will be it's closest to the earth this year so will appear 30% larger and then the most rare of all astronomical events on June 5-6, 2012, when Venus passes in front of the sun and will appear as black spot on the sun. That has only happened six times in all of history and will not happen again in this century. We'll need our eclipse glasses for that also.

Lots to look forward to.
