Seawall vs Blackwoods camping

Could someone provide some insight on benefits and drawbacks of each? We are visiting in early August, and prefer to avoid whichever campground is more likely to have RVs or similar noisiness. Proximity to various attractions?

It's been a little while, but last time we used either campground, neither of them had any hook-ups for RV's but did have some spaces for units up to about 35-feet. Keep in mind that folks looking for full-hook-ups etc may opt to stay at one of the many commercial campgrounds around Bar Harbor.

As far as proximity to attractions, for popular destinations like downtown Bar Harbor, Sand Beach, Cadillac Mountain, etc, Blackwoods is definitely closer than Seawall. If you're going to be checking out some of the other villages on Mount Desert Island and other "quiet side" locations, Seawall may be more convenient. But, in general, nothing on the island is going to be more than half an hour away -- and both campgrounds are served by the Island Explorer bus service should that matter to you....

Blackwoods accepts reservations which are really important in early August. Seawall is first come first serve. We would come to stay for 2 full weeks and it was important for us to reserve the size campsite we needed. As mentioned above neither have hook ups. Both are geared more to tent or pop-up camping than big RVs which we always liked. We found both to be very quiet, especially at nite. "B" loop in Blackwoods has sites that are spaced further apart and we found those to be nicer. The RVs were all in "A" loop. The rangers enforce the quiet hours. Blackwoods is closest to Bar Harbor and Park Loop Road; Seawall is closest to Southwest Harbor and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. Distances are no big deal on the island. Blackwoods has a trail that goes down to rocky cliffs on the ocean (along Loop Road). Seawall is across the street from a nature seawall which is flat but beautiful. Either one is really nice.
