Mid Coast Maine Trip

We are spending a few days between Kennebunkport and Acadia National Park. What are the best towns to see and stay in?

We had a great time at the Berry Manor Inn in Rockland. The inn is wonderful and a destination in and of itself. That said, the town was a lot of fun too and we had a lot of fun sailing around to look at the light houses.

Take a look in Damarascotta and drive through the town through Wiscasset and Bristol to South Bristol and Christmas Cove. In Christmas Cove, there is the Coveside Inn where rooms sit on the dock or in a big inn across the street. There is a small restaurant also on the dock where you can sit outside or in. It's a great place to get away to. We will be heading up from Texas next week. Can't wait to get out of this heat!

If you have a couple of days, go Route 1 and poke along thru towns, stopping at what interests you.

Portland is a must see, fun shopping, great boutiques, good restaurants.

LLBean in Freeport is fun.

Bath has gorgeous old architecture, Bath Iron Works and the Maine Maritime Museum.

Wiscasset is picturebook Classic New England. Eat a lobster roll at Red's if it's lunch time.

If you have an overnight stay en route, consider making it Camden.

Off the beaten track before Camden is the Pemaquid Penninsula with it's lighthouse. Absolutely gorgeous.

Off the beaten track closer to Acadia is the Blue Hill Peninsula (Blue Hill, Castine, Deer Isle, Stonington). Well worth the detour if you have the time.

Y'all have a good time ! Don't let the locals fool you into sucking the heads on those overgrown Yankee crawdads.

If you decide to stay near Rockland, stay at the Berry Manor B&B. We jjust were there on 7/5/6. It is a wonderful place and you will enjoy it. The homemade pies are great!
