Sri lanka

Hi..we are planning to visit Sri Lanka this month. We have around 10 days. We don't wish to travel much but just stay at one place and do day trips and relax preferably near the beaches.. can anyone suggest which would be the best place to spend most of our time relaxing and enjoying.

Well see here

It also links to the top question on day trips, as what you can do from beach is manifold but still covers only 30% or so from the island's highlights.

hi

If you don't like to travel much, you can stay at Benthota. But you should consider visiting Sigiriya and Kandy - both good places to stay for further excursions.

May be two stations during your stay. A Place like Passikudah or Nilaweli in the Eastern coast would give you ample space to stretch out as these spots are somewhat less frequented than the popular southern spots like Mirissa .As for the second station Sigiriya may be an option with multiple number of day trips all round .Kandy may not suit you ideally as the heavy traffic during morning and evening could affect your excursions from Kandy. There's another which is Kalpitiya ,on the western coast with access to beach along with wildlife at Wilpattu reserve ,boating, wetland reserves ,whale /dophin watching etc.
