What about my luggage?

I want to stop and see Burg Eltz on my way to Trier, but can't find anything to tell me if I would be able to store my luggage at or near the tran station. Is there an option there to store my luggage while I visit the castle?

Assuming you're coming from Koblenz, your best plan is probably to go to Cochem first (beautiful town that's worth the stop anyway!) to stow bags in a locker, then backtrack to Moselkern and retrieve bags in Cochem later that day.

If you take the RE (regional express) train from Koblenz to Cochem, it's just a tad over 30 minutes. To get from Koblenz to Moselkern, however, takes just as much time, even though it's closer, because you have to use the "milk-run" RB train to reach Moselkern - the RE doesn't stop there.

To backtrack to Moselkern requires a 16-minute train ride on the RB.

When you return to Cochem, stop over to enjoy the place. The old town area just beyond the old bridge is fetching. You can tour Reichsburg Castle and enjoy an excellent free-flight falconry show on the castle grounds if you have time. The chairlift ride gives you a spectacular view of the town and river valley.
