Is there any opinion about them?

I am worker here in Tom Price and I Stay here At the Windawarri on a two week on two week off roster. Its only single mans accmodation with a double bed. Its far from plush as Rio Tinto contracts out the running of the operation to the cheapest quote.

We dont refer to the restaurant as a resturant. Its a MESS to us and the food varies from ok to dam terrible. Expect to pay top dollar.

Stayed at the Auski motel accommodation this July. Clean, (but red dust everywhere outside) pleasant, comfortable, reasonably priced, and there is a great buffet in the evenings, hot & cold, for $18 - amazingly cheap for good food. It's about an hour's drive to the Karijini visitor centre, through some spectacular country.

We'd certainly recommend, and would stay there again. J & F Albany WA

Western Australia is so backward when it comes to tourism, no wonder people go abroad. People want to enjoy Karajini but cannot get in the most basic accommodation because there isn't any hardly. Shame on the government and WA Tourist Board for not developing appropriate tourist accommodation and facilities in this beautiful area. And before anyone claims it will spoil the area NONSENSE, the rest of the world does it very well without spoiling the scenery or ecology. WA Tourism really needs to step into the 21st century.

Hi David, the WA Tourist Board isn't in the business of hotel management.

There are enough facilities for a national park, so not really sure what else you are thinking of there aside from the beds. The point of national parks is that the facilities are relatively light-touch.

The road to the Karijini Eco-Retreat is now sealed so there has been some work undertaken to make accommodation options accessible to tourists.

Pete West of West Oz Active is also trying his best to create accessible means of visiting Karijini NP through his touring arm Flying Sandgroper, but its hard when visitor numbers are relatively low and distances so big.

I agree that a well-located motel would be a help to visitors but I'm not really sure its the fault of WA tourism or them being backwards...have they actually knocked back a proposal from a commercial operator to build one?
