Nearly all flights to Mexico include all taxes in the ticket price BUT the exceptions are traveling by Thomas Cook or Thomsons where you have to pay a tax on departing Mexico. Latest information is that the amount is 900 pesos (Thomas Cook) or 800 pesos (Thomsons) - although this can change at any time.

Yes, you are definitely fine with Virgin - nothing extra to pay. Have fun!

Denise L, *IF* you are flying on regularly scheduled Virgin air service (i.e. NOT a charter), then yes your departure tax should have been already included in your fare. IF however you are on a charter flight (even flown by Virgin), then your departure tax may not have been included. Hope this helps.

Question - Doesn't your travel company such as TC or Thompsons tell you this when you buy your ticket

Why do you have to go to a public forum to ask??

VSD, both TC and Thomson advise in their brochures and on their website that there's a departure tax to be paid. Our booking invoice also shows this info under a separate heading below our flight and hotel details.

If you book on their website, you have to tick the box to show you've read and understood the part about departure tax to be paid.

All virgin flights to Mexico from uk are scheduled airline flights if this clarifies. So no extra costs incurred on departure.

LHeath - if you are flying from Mexico to the US or Canada on ANY airline (including Westjet), your departure tax is already included in the price of your ticket.

It is ONLY travellers to the UK on Thomas Cook and Thomson flights that have to pay this tax separately. If you are flying to the UK with BA or Virgin, the tax is included in the price of your ticket.
