Thomas Cook customers - transfers to EPM

Hi, can anyone advise if the transfer from Cancun airport to EPM for Thomas Cook customers is direct or via other hotels en route and does the same apply for the return journey to the airport - and approx how long does it take? 5 weeks and counting !!

Hi

It will all depend on how many people they have going to EPM and if they can fill a van or coach

If not they could just send the pair of you or you may have to go via the hotel zone which will add quite a bit of time onto the journey and the same will apply on the way back as they will start with EPM and work their way back to the airport

A direct transfer will take around 25 mins

Your better off getting a private transfer. You may get a direct drive with the TA but you may not. If you would like a tour of the hotel zone then it won't be an issue. If you want direct to the Hotel I would get the private transfer. Just MO.

I would also recommend getting a private transfer. Ask how much Thomas Cook do one for and it if works out at more than the £ equivalent of $70,(and a tip each way) book one through cancun tranfers. we've done that for the last 4 years and it's much better than taking the chance of extending the time it takes to get to the hotel after the 10+ hrs flight...plus you don't have to wait for anyone else....there's always one who can't find the transport!!

We spoke with one couple from the USA last year who were totally hacked off as it had taken them 2 hours to get to EPM

Hi sunseekers-TRIP

Just read on another thread you've booked cancun transfers already....good for you. They will be outside with your name on a board...just make sure you let the Thomas Cook rep who will be outside as well that you are not going on the coach, as if you don't, you'll be the ones everyone else is waiting for.

if you have booked with Thomas Cook then it is one of their Ultimate Style Holidays which includes a direct transfer. When I asked what this was, the said depending on the number of guests either a mini bus directly to the hotel or a taxi.

Just to confirm you will be on a direct transfer with Thomas Cook as EPM falls under Ultimate style so you don't need a separate transfer sorting if you don't want it

Even with a direct transfer that is already provided, you are still at the mercy of other travelers who may decide to stop for a beer, get sidelined by timeshare reps., god forbid have missing luggage, etc. Any number of reasons your transfer could be delayed because of others.

I'd pay the extra few $ for a private transfer.

The best things about a private transfer are -

You are not delayed by someone who, unfortunately, pressed 'red' at customs.

You are not delayed by someone whose bags have not appeared on the belt

You are not waiting for the smokers to top up their nicotine levels, following 12 hours of 'cold turkey'.

We travelled PE with TC a few years ago and after being unloaded first, getting our bags first, getting out land side first and, getting on the bus first, we waited 40 minutes before it departed for ERC and beyond. Since then, we've always booked a private transfer.
