Has any one on here been to Villa del Palmar Cancun? And if so, what is it like and do you have a "go to" (contact) person there. B)...

21. Re: Has any one on here been to Villa del Palmar Cancun?

Always good to have posters return with comments in a thread.

I looked at some of the recent reviews and I just don't understand the people who are paying $400 for 5 days whine and complain that their AI isn't AI enough. They whine about tipping (yes, we all know it's included in some AI's and a required bulk prepay for others) Waiters know the bracelet colors. They whine about the lines and the buffets and the pool service...

Service usually varies with occupancy. We had only a short line (2-4 minute wait) for a table at any meal venue, and the staffing was low. Good grief people, it's vacation in Mexico-what's your hurry?

Some people whine even they have a one BR, two bath suite with a lovely view...

The one legit review with complaints about leaky washer and bad AC should have insisted on being moved. Management should have been on the scene and if they couldn't be moved, repairs should have been done pronto. Some people just shouldn't buy into time shares--they have no idea what the terms really are. Makes me think about LCCs like Ryanair and Spirit Airlines. (see air travel forums)

Some people will complain about anything and everything. We had great service, then we tipped after.

There, I've said my piece about the whiners!

We prefer to and usually do, travel to exotic places and stay in very exclusive properties. We have the great luxury of being able to fly for nearly nothing as airline people. We STILL come back to VDP when we want a nice escape for 5 days. It's nothing super-special but it's beautiful, clean, friendly and the food and service has always been good for us.

I didn't mention any specific people. Post 21 was about TA REVIEWS.

badbob, do you feel like you complained alot? Not what I saw. I thought you had a nice time.

My post was in regard to people's expectations--higher occupancy means more people at meals etc. The price of this resort is not tantamount to EPM or The Beloved. When people complain they didn't get something that others paid for, yes, that's I think that's whining. Room problems need to be addressed at once--no question.

I like the decent price we pay for all inclusive at VDP. It was fair and we get 5 nts, RT private transfers, sparkling wine and treats on arrival, massages, private dinner w/ wine. Yes, it's more than $400--just a bit more than twice that. Yes, we tip in addition. We do it because we want to, but understand it isn't required. These people work tough jobs and we appreciate their service.

There are lots of AI's in the Yucatan--I hope everyone finds one they can afford and enjoy.

We have been there twice. We were offered the presentation but declined.--end of story. If you bought a cheap package that requires the presentation, that's what you get. Sorry--that's your choice--deal with it or pay more.

Are you talking about Cancun or PV? I think you are in the wrong place.

If you are referring to me, I have never whined about VDP. My comments have always been matter of fact. Nor have I whined about people who whine--I have been blunt and direct--no whining. If not, please accept my apologies.

Thanks for your reply. Most of my comments about the resort have been positive. We plan to return. We never expect to be moved at the front; we expect good service on arrival and VDP delivers in most aspects.

If we arrive late, yep, we go behind anyone already in line. It's when people who pay for discounted AI's act like they are entitled to amenities they don't deserve, then complain they were shafted. That's what I call whining. Hope to see you at VDP in the future! We look forward to our next visit. Stay warm in Calgary.

We spent seven nights at VDP and were overall happy with our experience. I plan to write a complete review today. If you can't be happy here, you can't be happy as there are enough positives to outweigh the negatives.
