Room number, or at least that is hoe they identified us on both trips to EPM's sister resort, Excellence Riviera Cancun.

The club is based on your room key as you need it to enter. We didn't notice any policing of beach or bar, but that may have changed or maybe it was just because both areas were dead when we were there.

We were asked our room number the first time we went on the beach and to the Excellence pool, same at the club even though our room key got us in.

The concierge staff in the EC areas ask you for your room number when they first meet you to check if you are a EC guest and thereafter remember you are a EC Guest. If you are not they very politely advise you that it is a EC area - beach & pool

For the club as has been said it is card entry

As a fellow poster obsessed with TA, here is my two cents. The staff at EPM does an excellent job of taking an interest in you personally. Four of us travelled there last March and will be heading back in only 12 days, (YEAH Me, sorry). With a concierge on each floor and attentive staff @ the beach, they had all our names down in a day or two. They will remember you, especially if you are as friendly as they are. And yes, only an EC key card will allow you into the EC Club room.. p.s. It's a great place to pop in for a quick snack on your way back to the room.

Enjoy your trip

Like everyone said they know by your room number. But it is so nice for people who are NOT ec because it isn't shoved in your face that you didn't upgrade. We upgraded when we went and did again on our next trip in July. We loved being able to pop into the EC club to get a quick snack without having to order food or check e-mail and facebook easily. We really enjoyed the little extras. I always found it amazing with the number of people at the resort...the staff aways remembered you and after a day you never needed to tell the beach or pool concierge your room again. They also remembered your drink so they just kept them coming without ever asking again. I think the staff at the EC areas is what makes it worth the money.

that said, we do not stay EC, and the staff remember your name after the first day and your drink as well. They also remembered us a year later when we returned.

We were treated royally the entire time(s) we have been thre, and have just recieved a note from Excellence telling us how excited they were to see our reservation for September.

You are right, it is the people who make this entire resort shine, not just the Excellence Club staff.
