Boat Charter Suggestions

Hi - we are off to Karon next week with our 4.5 yr old and 2 yr old and we are keen to do a boat trip with the kids but don't think our son would cope with a full day away so we think we might hire a boat for a couple of hours and do some exploring. It would be good to do some snorkelling but that will involve one of us being in water with our daughter while other stays on boat or snorkelling from a beach somewhere. We are looking for good safe suggestions of companies that might offer this service and some suggestions where to go. If it was successful we might do 2 boat trips as we are there for 9 nine days. We are staying at Centara Karon so ideally want somewhere accessible to book trip etc. thanks for your suggestions.

Hi - You could take a longtail boat over to Banana Beach where you can swim, snorkel, feed the fish, etc. There is a lovely little restaurant with good food and good prices. When we stay in Karon we just get a taxi to Rawai and organise the longtail boat directly.

If you go and see Petty (she is situated outside Refresh Massage) she sells tours, etc and I'm sure she will be able to assist you with any tours or trips that you would like to book.

I have a 1 year old monster of a daughter who travels quite well on speedboats when she's not trying to drive the boat, you will need to take a buggy for moving your baby on land and beach stop offs. take lots of water... probably no life jakets for real small children your children's age as most boat companies dont allow children under 4 years on boats...SO YOU WOULD HAVE TO CHECK THIS.

Organised snorkeling tours this time of year to Phi Phi island and also Kai Island, theres many different prices avoid cheep as there cheep on safety also. dont get sold a fishing boat tour as a snorkeling day out.

Easy days that you will get the most from for the kids are sightseeing tours to Racha yai Island also known as Ray Island, lunch is also included in this its a good choice as the speedboat trip is 35mins and the beaches are less crowded , snorkeling from a speedboat is part of the tour. Most private speedboats dont have great insurance policies...

Half day trips to Kai island start at 10:30 and return at 4:30...

Snorkeling from the Beach is a Dangerous this time of year as red flags are out dont ever let your kids in the water at KATA or Karon beach.

Private Speedboat for hire run at around 16,000 THB with English Private tour guides for Racha Yai for a small Private Boat, lunch cost around 300 thb per person for a good location with sea view.

Hope this helps

Have a good save holiday
