Melbourne to Bangkok 777-200

Hi Fellow Travellers,

Just wondering if anyone has recently flown Thai Airways from Melb-Bangkok (flight 446) on a 777-200 and could tell whether or not the plane has personnel t.v screens or not?

Thanks!

Yes we did melb to bangkok a few weeks ago. There were plenty of movies and music on individual screens. From bangkok to phuket however there was only one big screen to see. that was only a one hour flight. Thai airway was fantastic.

Thanks Nic. Did you fly on the 13.55pm flight or a later one? I had a quick read through many of your reviews. They are great! And very useful for us, as we are staying at the Centara Karon Resort. How was the food on your flight? Do you have any good seat suggestions? Thanks!

We don't fly out till the 15th, but just thought I would suss it all out. Some of the websites say that the 777-200 planes have personnel tv's, while others don't. Would this really be the case? Any tips for us with regards to Centara Karon resort? Thanks Nic.

Not tips but suggestions. food was good at resort we found. drinks and western food really expensive. I think a bowl of chips at the pool was $7 aussie. Much cheaper out of resort and i think its good to share your business around. We had a few issues with our room but it didnt spoil our holiday. Make sure u take mossie spray. Even some spray for your room . We had mozzie things in the room but didnt make a difference. Tropial pool area was our favourite pool. Now if you happen to pass the tailor in the resort u need to say to him num are ska. That is hello in napalese. The little guys name is dj and he was telling us a few words we could use out in the streets to the napalese traders. It really puts a smile on there face and took the pressure off the big sell. Hes a top guy.

When you head out of the resort on your left there are some white tents. You must have the roti pancakes from there. The ladies name is Roshtina and she is sooo nice and makes the best roti and while u wait get a fruit shake from the girls next door. this is a big call...best fruit shakes and roti in karon.

Maybe think twice about fish massage. Hubbies been on antibiotics clearing up infection from water in those fish tanks. Had laundry done at oasis which is past the white tents at the back of a bar 50 bht pkg. Still in same street You need to.call into One big supermarket. cheaper than 7 11. Empty bar fridge out and stock up on drinks from there. They also had these chilli and lime cashew nuts in a green pkt. Spicy but yummo. By now your at the end of the street. Go right for the beach or taxi or head left for the temple markets. tues and sat 4or 5 pm start. Awsome market with cheap cheap food. We never got sick but hubby was weazy before we entered and a lady sold him some yukult and his was fine. He was trying all sorts of stuff. It does finish around9/10 so dont leave it to late to go. If you head futher passed the temple on the right hand side there a good restaurants along there. May look dodgy to our standards but really good and so cheap and friendly.

Opposite the beach in between the resorts there was a market tucked away. If you continue u end up in Kata. We walked took maybe 40 min with kids. little restaurants along way next to police station. First one was very good. If you go to Kata be aware of the time share people. Usually english be polite and just say no thanks. Only place we came across this. Tuk tuk back 200bht we just paid couldnt be bothered haggiling that one.

Tuk or taxi to Patong 300 bht. They say 400you say 300and we always got droped off at jungcylon or o top market. I think its deff 400if you wanted to be dropped off along the beach rd in Patong because they have to do a whole lap to get there.

We hird a driver Manop for the day 1500bht 9-6 . He was excellent.
