Hi garyrob,

The Kata Beach Resort is beach front. Excellent position. There are many cheap places to eat around the Kata area.

Most have their menu's out the front so you can check out the dishes & prices before you decide to enter.

We had lunch just about everyday at Natalie's which is across the road from the Kata Beach Resort. Thai dishes were good & cheap.

East & West ( which is owned by the Outdoor restaurant) was also good value. Two Chef's a little bit more expensive but the Swedish meatballs with mash were delicious & they also do a great Irish coffee.

Along the beach front there are also restaurants, some more expensive than others but check the prices on the menu's first.

At the Oyster Bar which is across the road from the KBR you can also order food. There hamburgers were huge.

You will have many choices. Enjoy . CJ

Kata Beach Resport is one of my regular haunts, but the one downfall is the lack of any kind of food or drink after 11pm, including room service. Apart from that its a great hotel on the beach, friendly and attentive staff, big pool, and right by the cafes and shops. You should be aware that you might get just a little rain in June (but its refreshing in the heat) and that Phuket is the single most expensive place in Thailand for food, drink and transport - the latter being outrageously expensive.

There are so many little bars close by that it wouldn't matter if the KBR stopped serving drinks or food at a certain hour.

Also your can always buy your drinks from any of the local supermarkets & leave them in your room. Quiet easy & would be a lot cheaper than the hotel prices. Just a thought. CJ

As CJ says, lots of really good bars and restaurants just outside KBR offering a great choice of food and drink if you don't want to stay in the hotel - which to be honest I would not bother with!

7Eleven just around the corner to stock up on supplies.

Have fun!

Wish we were there now with CJ!

Great hotel right on the beach. The breakfast was the best variety I have had in Thailand and very good service. It is central with lots of shops, bars etc within a very short walking distance and the bus stop is just next doorto Karon, Phuket town . We did however find the restauarnt very expensive but you are spoilt for choice so it was not really an issue.

We liked it too. It will be great there in June as it will be half empty, unless they have a big conference, which they often do cater for. Even then it won't be too bad, and they leave after 2 or 3 days anyway. We ate breakfast there daily because it was included in the price, and it was very nice. Lunch by the little pool was a great location, but the food was less than average compared to what's outside the hotel. Did not have dinner there but there seemed to be a smorgasbord nightly.

We prefer the sea view from the 2 story section deluxe rooms, and some of the ground floor rooms there even have doors that open out to the pool area (about the third in onwards).
