Around mid-May we (two couples around 60 years of age) are planning an 8=9 days holiday in Sangla starting from Delhi and reaching Chandigarh by train. Then take taxi and drive to Sangla which I understand is a 10 hours ride so we plan to break it mid way @ Thanedar.

I have following Qs –

• What kind of weather we can expect?

• Any nearby place we should visit / treks from Sangla (keeping in mind our age)?

• Any other useful info, tips etc?

Many thanks for your help.

1. Re: Sangla

Dear tejiraj

Sangla or baspa valley is beautiful.

Mid May is most pleasant weather,no rains so no risk of land slides

From ur post it looks that you are not giving halt at Shimla

Route-- delhi-chandigarh-shimla by pass-kufri-fagu-theog-narkanda-thanedar -rampur-jeori-wangtu-tapri

Ahead of tapri one route goes to Recong peo & kalpa. other route goes to kacham- sangla-rakchham-chitkul

I have travelled this place & stayed in PWD rest houses

Delhi to thanedar will be approx 358km

from thanedar to sangla approx 150km

Sangla to chitkul 25km

sangla to kalpa 45 km

My suggestion is that you stay at Narkanda lot of hotels private & HPTDC 18km short of thanedar

Do visit recong peo & kalpa also.

Chitkul 3460 meters is last inhibited village in valley
