Including airport surcharge max 500 Baht for a meter taxi. But since it is a meter taxi, you won't know the exact amount untill you've arrived at your destination.

Make sure you get a metered taxi. Turn right as you exit the terminal and walk 50 meters to the end of the veranda.

Pay the man at the taxi booth 100 baht and he will call a metered taxi. When you arrive at the Merlin pay the driver the fare on the meter....about 400 baht.

Ignore offers of limo, taxi, metered taxi etc as you walk to the booth.

We have some pics of the booth and the metered taxis on our Phuket tip page here... www.bobandjanette.com

We were there in July and paid 450baht at the metered taxi stand. Turn right when you walk outside the airport.

Ozzabot,

When the Cab driver asked which hotel we were staying at and we said Holiday Inn the price was 800 Baht!!!

I said "Im not paying that" He said "if you can afford to stay at the holiday inn you can afford 800 baht"

I book all my transfers online now, yes it may cost me at little more in the long run, but the driver is waiting for us at the airport with a sign and no stops on the way to the hotel!!

Much easier

The meters on cabs do not discriminate between hotels, as advised so many times on these forums, get a meter taxi.

We stayed at Kata, which is further from the airport than Patong, the fare, including the 100baht airport surcharge, was 474baht, definitely use the meter taxi, ignore the touts inside the terminal, walk out the door and turn right, they are straight ahead.
