Summit gardens

Thinking of heading out to Gamboa by bus and stopping to take a look at the summit gardens. We are staying in Gamboa. Is there any place to leave luggage at the gardens while we wander around?

Probably not. And, I'm not sure I would trust anyone outside of the hotel with my luggage anyway. There is a ticket window and an office at the zoo entrance. You could ask if they will watch you luggage for you.

I know it's an inconvenience anyway you look at it, either hauling luggage to the garden or taking it to Gamboa and coming back to see the garden. But, the garden/zoo is one of my favorite places around the city. While the zoo isn't all that big in terms of number of animals and birds, there are plenty of indigineous animals and birds, and it is impressive. There is an excellent exhibit on the Harpy Eagles. Soberanía has done for the Harpy what the Portland Zoo did for elephants.

Bring cut up bananas and grapes for the monkeys.

If you like hiking and exploring the jungle, you might also consider a hike on the Camino las Cruces (Las Cruces Trail) which is nearby and can be accessed from both Gamboa and the Madden Dam Road (same road that goes by Soberanía/Summit Gardens). I'll be happy to provide details, if you're interested.

Thank you. You have encouraged us to stop at the Gardens. Unfortunately don't think we will have time for the hike.
