Golf del Sur to Los Abrigos

Self and husband booked to stay at Vincci Tenerife Golf hotel over Christmas and wondering if I have made mistake with area (ie chosen somewhere too remote) We are used to Lanzarote and did not want to stay somewhere very built up like Las Americas. We liked the idea of being near the airport and the fish restaurants of Los Abrigos sound good but am worried there is nowhere much to walk to in the area. From other reviews it sounds as though you can only walk to Los Abrigos accross the beach, any idea how far? it looks near on the map. We will have a car for a few days in the middle of our 2 week stay to get out and about around the island .

Golf del Sur is a very British resort so you will have no problems with the language, the bars and entertainment which is all set up for mainly Brit tastes. It is quiet compared to other resorts (apart from the planes) so you may be glad of your car after a few days, particularly if you are not a golfer.

There is no beach but you can walk along the seafront from the Nautico hotel to Los Abrigos, it is a 30 minute saunter, the last bit being across some rough ground. Hopefully this site will open in the correct place losabrigosvirtual.com/portal/… and you can see where you cross from one area to the other. If it doesn't work and you can see the picture in the top corner if you click the spot called PLAYA. If you then click each of the green dots at the top of the screen you can travel around Los Abrigos taking in 360 degree views. This town is very Spanish so don´t go at lunchtime as most places close for siesta.

Its only 10 mins to Los Abrigos from your hotel, if you walk slowly. San Blas restaurants are generally not great. Roast Beef, Fish'n'Chips. Poor cocktails. BUT "Tapas" is excellent, really god food and atmosphere with entertainment many nights (book!), Gullivers good grills.

I would hire a car for full 2 weeks and get out and about. Some great quiet beaches in easy reach (El Puertito, Abades, Poris). Good supermarkets (Mercadona, Hyperdino, Lidls).

Los Gigantes for a full day out, go to the Oasus Lido. Nice pool, great views. Little restaurant n site. Walk down steps and jump in the sea. magic.

You don't have to walk along the beach from Golf del Sur to Los Abrigos. The majority of the walk is along footpaths and when I last went the latter 2 or 3 mins walk was across waste land right next to the sea, probably built up now. \My husband and I used to walk to Los Abrigos along this route every evening and my husband is almost blind -no problem. Have a good holiday.

Anyone know if the coastal route from San Blas to Los Abrigos is still passable ? Been to San Blas area a few times on holidays but didn't realise Los Abrigos was within walking distance, so keen to visit when we go back in July.
