There's a little snorkelling at Darkwood (next beach along). Otherwise, take a boat ride out to Cades Reef (a little further still to the south.

yes there is a reef out off the main beach at cocobay. when the tide is low it can become exposed and very shallow. when the tide is in, it is a little deeper. I am not a real snorkel freak but I found it nice, but I am sure there are 1000X better places in Antigua to snorkel. We saw all kinds of multi colored fish, large fish, sea urchins, lobsters, and lots of conch, etc...

We had friends that went to cades reef and said it was beautiful. You can get arrangements with guys on the beach or through receptionist at cocobay. You can rent snorkel gear at cocobay so it is nice to just snorkel when you wish. When you are at cocobay you are sheltered from the ocean, once you get outside the 'bay' it can become rough waters. Sometimes when waves are large or there is a storm offshore, the water can become murky but we only found this happen once in our week stay. You can ususally see 10-20 feet down okay.
