❝Government threatens to take over hotel chain
The government has threatened to take over the African safari Club Hotel chain after management failed to pay Sh100million in salary arrears.
The Labour Minister John Munyes said the Ministry had written to the management of the hotels to pay its more than 300 workers their salary arrears or risk losing the hotels.
'We are aware Africn Safari Club is owned by some influential people I do not wish to name, but the law must be followed to the letter' he said
The Minister said the Government had issued a 21 day notice to payt the workers or face disciplinary action.
He revealed that on of the hotels owned by ASC has been sold but warned that the company might have to sell the rest of their facilities in order to pay the salary arrears.
Munyes said efforts to negotiate with the owners of ASC to pay the workers had failed and they have camped at one of the directors' hous demanding payment.❞
