Maybe you should go to their web site and write to them, although the Vasco Da Gama is not open, but if your looking for a nice hotel in Shanzu then I would try the Serena Beach

Def gone skint

Egypt specialist African Safari Club fails

Mar 16, 2011 21:00

Egypt-specialist African Safari Club has ceased trading with 500 clients overseas and an unknown number of forward bookings.

The Civil Aviation Authority confirmed the tour operator had folded late on Wednesday, but said all those abroad would be able to complete their holidays.

Most clients are in Egypt or Kenya and are due to return by next week. Bromley-based African Safari Club specialised in Nile cruises, Indian Ocean cruises and safaris.

It had also operated a small ocean cruise ship MS Royal Star of its own offering cruises to Seychelles, Mauritius, Zanzibar, Madagascar and South Africa.

It had previously flown its own aircraft with a distinctive Zebra livery from Gatwick, but for the past 18 months had operated a charter with Monarch Airlines.

African Safari Club, which was an Abta member, is the fifth long-haul Atol-holder to fail this year.

In October 2009 it was critcised after being accused of not paying staff at its Vasco da Gama, Flamingo Beach and Dolphin hotels in Shanzu Beach.

African Safari Club has ceased trading as of 16 March 2011

Customers due to travel

There are no more outbound African Safari Club flights. If you were due to travel on a African Safari Club holiday you should NOT go to your departure airport as your flight tickets will NOT be valid.

Any customers that booked through an agent should contact that agent in the first instance. Customers who made a direct booking using a credit card should contact their credit card provider. All other customers should make a claim from the CAA. Information about making a claim will be provided shortly at www.atol.org.uk

Customers currently abroad on holiday

The CAA will be making arrangements to ensure customers of African Safari Club can fly home at the end of their holiday. All inbound flights from Kenya and Egypt will operate as planned.

For media enquiries please contact the CAA press office through the CAA switchboard on 020 7379 7311 or during office hours on Monday to Friday direct on 0207 453 6030.
