booking hotels+trips

Hi, we are planning to stay in Phuket for 5nights in August. We like the look of the Cape Panwa hotel, but was not sure if the Cape Panwa area is a bit far out from restaurants etc is this the case or would it be fine. We want a quieter area but still want to go to the lively areas just to see or eat out.

Regarding booking, it seems that it is much cheaper to book through expedia than go direct through the hotel. However the feeling on here is that booking direct with hotel is best. Any thoughts? I have used expedia before and found them good.

Also regarding trips, could anyone suggest some great trips (we want to go to Phi Phi) and how to go about booking them?

Thanks

Hi,

If you can get the hotel cheaper through a booking agent and Expedia are very good it makes no difference to the hotel who you book through. However if you prefer to book direct with the hotel ask if they can match the rate.

Cape Panwa is a quiet area but has some lovely restaurants in the village Sawadee, halfway up the hill at the Cape Panwa The hilltop and Jamies Seafood all great restaurants. Also Phuket town which is a short 15 minute taxi ride you have the Natural rest which is great plus the hotel restaurants which for hotels really are good value especially if you buy the dinner coupons. Top of the Reef at Cape Panwa is a must.

Phi Phi in August would be by speed boat and will be weather dependant on the sea conditions the best firm I have used are Simba

www.simbaseatrips.com they will go only if the sea conditions are fit to go.

Cape Panwa is very lovely and CP beach is quite sheltered so a lot of the times you can still swim in the sea here.

The hotel offers a shuttle bus into Patong in the evening for those that want some night life and it returns around 23.00hrs. Also a shuttle into Phuket town.

For a great evening with much cheaper drinks try the Sunset Bar with Russell and Wasanna just down the hill from Cape Panwa hotel. A shuttle bus runs every 10 minutes.

Julie
