Osses (France) -good family holiday destination?

We have won a two-week villa holiday in Osses (no time period specified) and it is a part of France we know nothing off. We have three young children (10, 8, 5) and wondered whether anyone could recommend Osses and surrounding area (or not) as a family holiday destination? All help very gratefully received.

What is the best guide book for the area?

The area is fine for a family holiday. You might be interested in downloading a copy of Maribel's Guide to the Pays Basque (www.maribelsguides.com) to get a little more familiar with the area.

Osses = Ortzaize in Basque is in the Basque country, 40 minutes drive to the coast. The countryside is quiet, nice views around, many beautifull villages around: Saint Jean de Pied de Port, Baigorri, the "Chemin de Saint Jacques" full of pilgrims is pasing close... Ronceveaux = Orreaga Monastery and you have the low pyrenees whithin 20 minutes drive, there are very nice walks or hikes whithin the area. You will not be dissapointed.
