Walking around Ping An

We have overnight accommodation in Ping An in two weeks time with time for two half day walks in the area.

What are the walking conditions like - will light trainers suffice or should we bring sturdier walking shoes/boots, which we don't expect to need anywhere else on our trip?

Also, where to go for each half day? We think we will have the use of a driver if need be.

hi ,

the fisrt half day ,you can walk around ping'an village.

when you arrive ping'an village.you try to get a simple map from your hotel, then you can hike around No.2 view to No.1 view.after that back to your your hotel.total will be 2.5 -- 3 hours.

the second half ,from your hotel to longji old village,on the way ,you can see beautiful rice terrace and traditional wood buildings.you will spend around 3 hours for double way.

when you walk around rice terrace area, you need to follow stone path anywhere.you can't get lost by yourself ,you need not bring your boots .

I wore sandals. Light trainers are fine.

Having a good tread on your trainers etc would be beneficial. The soil in these mountains is very clayey one of the main reasons why there are so many slides in the mountains , so therefore the walking tracks can be very slippery at times.

On your first morning have a look around the village and then head up to viewpoint 2 , rubbish up there was disgusting on our visit, in fact Ping An had rubbish everywhere , then do the contour walk over to v/point 1 and the continue onto the village of Zhongliu.

Its a bout a 3 hour round trip and of course there is brilliant scenery and it is very undulating walk

Next morning walk out to the village of Zhuang.

The track starts about halfway up to view point 2 and on your left .

A lot of the main tracks are easy to pick up as they have laid slate down due to the clay conditions

Takes about 1 1/2 hours return and is mostly flat following the contour of the hill

Excellent little walks and will give you a good perspectiveof the area.
