SS25 road in Susa seasonally closed?

My husband and I are driving from Briancon to Annecy, via Susa. We have planned our route to travel along the mountain pass between Italy and France - the SS25/D1006 (italian/french). We have heard that this road is sometimes closed due heavy snow. Does anyone know if this road is open by the 2nd April?

We have chosen this route as it is supposed to have beutiful scenery and would rather not travel through the Tunel at Frejus.

Please help asap! :D

The road over the Moncenisio is almost always open, although it may take a while to clear it after a heavy snowfall.
