7 days in Palm cove - what to do

Hi, my husband and I have a week in Palm Cove late this month. Arrive mid day on a Thursday, so need accomation for that night then the next 7. In PalmCove.

My idea was to travel to P D and then the next day to CapeTrib. We have a rental car, and wanted to look at the rain forest, reef trip and snorkeling ,, ...any other ideas.? Or is is too much to try and squeeze this into a day and a half?

Reef trip is usually a full day tour itself. The rest is fairly easy and its not a big distance. Check with your rental car company re Cape Tribulation as some don't allow their cars to cross the Daintree River (ferry).

We stayed in Palm Cove for a week in January. We left early in the morning, stopping at Mossman Gorge, the ferry over the Daintree (in a rental car), and continued north stopping at the Daintree Discovery Centre, and then all the way to Cape Tribulation Beach. You can NOT go any further, unless you rent a 4x4. Gravel roads then.... It was a long day, and we never got back to the ferry until 4:00 in the afternoon, and all the river cruises were finished for the day. If you are intent on cruising the Daintree, do it BEFORE you get on the ferry!!!

We went back to Port Douglas on another day, Sunday!! Fantastic market there every Sunday. Wished I had more cash with me as not all the vendors were set up for VISA.

We stayed in the Palm Cove Tropic Apartments. It was VERY quiet there in January. Nice pool, washer and dryer in the unit, and underground free parking. It isn't on the beach, but just half a block away. And you can book any tours with the front desk too.

http://palmcovetropic.com.au/ We actually used vrbo to book it.

You say you'll be doing the things you mention in 1.5 days. What do you expect to do for the other 5.5 days? Palm Cove is nice, but I'm not sure 5 days of strolling the beach is going to be interesting for you?

Do you have your rental car for the full duration of your stay? If so you could visit some of the coffee & fruit plantations up on the Atherton Tablelands. Also do the Kuranda Scenic Railway and the cableway. Do visit the Port Douglas Sunday Market if you can. Go early, it shuts up at about 1pm.
