Marcooola Beach

Is Marcoola Beach a safe beach?

Need 3 bedroom accommodation and thought would try here as it would be cheaper than Noosa Mooloolaba etc

any suggestions for accommodation - San Marino looks nice?

Is there a better end of the beach to stay?

thanks for your help

We've stayed in surf air and Atlantis Marcoola a number of times. The beach is fine. The biggest difference between there and staying at somewhere like Noosa or Mooloolaba is that there isnt a wide range of eating options, cafes, restaurants, bars, shops within walking distance. So if you're happy to drive for that sort of thing, it's ok. If you like to wander out in the evening for drinks, coffee, dinner, it's very limited - the surrounding suburbs are not very upmarket either. If you normally like the 'Noosa vibe' I think you will be disappointed. If you want a self contained holiday a the beach, mainly self catering, or are only using it as a base, it's fine.

Not sure About San Marino, but definitely check you are facing the beach. That's unless you are an airplane buff. Some of the units at surf air at least are shockers with only a view of the highway and the runway.

Everything Elthelredyappy said with an emphasis on loving planes as you are literaly across the road from the airport.

It is a little rippy there so be careful. last time i swam there I had trouble with the pull of the current

The area around the accommodation at this section of Marcoola has had a lot of work in recent times. The beach infront of the accommodation is patrolled so swim between the flags.

There are now more dining options, just cross the road and within a few minutes you have a reasonable choice . There is pizza, fish and chips, chinese restaurant, Indian restaurant, Subway, excellent bakery which also sells sandwiches, coffee and the like. There is a 7 eleven with groceries, fruit shop, and a few other choices.

IF you drive south to Pacific Paradise there is a large coles supermarket, a few restaurants, a couple of pizza options and the north shore tavern which serves good food and has nightly specials.

Heading north from Marcoola, you reach Coolum Beach which has numerous restaurants and specialty shops and two large supermarkets- Coles and Woolworths.

Local buses stop right outside the accommodation at Marcoola.

I would also suggest you consider Coolum Beach for accommodation.

You could also look at the Novotel in Twin Waters (they do 2 bedroom, not sure about 3 br) which is close to Marcoola but will be a bit quieter. Great beach with life saver tower just across the road. You also have access to the Maroochy river, conservation park etc for walks which is nice.

10 mins to Coolum Beach, 10 minutes to Maroochydore, 15 mins to Mooloolaba beach etc

You could also look at Yaroomba or closer to Coolum
