Take JR bullet train from Tokyo/Shinagawa to Shin-Osaka. You have 2options here: either 1): switch to Subway Midosuji Line so you can access to Nankai(non-JR) Namba (originating) Station: 5min total walk involved through the underground corridor plus Nankai Namba complex, or 2) transfer to JR Tokaido Line/Kyoto Line for you to go to JR Osaka, 1stop away, from where you take Inward Loop Line/Yamatoji Line (both track1) to hit JR Shin-Imamiya; once you alight here then go up the stairs leading to a large hall where you can find a Nankai manned ticket counter/ticket vending machines on your right-hand side; in here buy your discount return ticket to Mt Koya if you get back within 2days: nankai.co.jp/global/…index.html

(the above can also be bought at Nankai Namba)

After you get off at Nankai Gokurakubashi Station, the final approach to Mt Koya is via a cable car also run by Nankai Railways, a 5min ride.
