Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine route Apr 11 to 14

Hi, I am undecided if we should include parts of the alpine route in our coming trip. Majority of our group have never seen snow and I thought the Alpine route it will be a nice detour from Kiso Valley. Since the route will only be partially open before April 16, is it worth making a trip around Apr 11 or 12 by doing a u-turn from the Tateyama side or Omachi end?

Is there any other alternative to see snow nearby Kiso? We are 5 females in our 40s with 2 of our moms in their 60's. We won't be skiing. Chances are all of us might be too shy to get into a public onsen, So, it'll be just to feel the snow and to enjoy beautiful landscape.

We'll be in Kyoto from Apr 8 to 11. Hoping to do Kiso and Alpine route between Apr 11 to 14. Heading back to Osaka to catch night fligh on the 15th. Am still comtemplating if we should drive from Kyoto to Tateyama or to Omachi and then to Kiso Valley. Any advice is much appreciated.

Sorry, that was information that you've already had. I was half asleep.

Midagahara should have snow in April. You might consider going there and perhaps stay for the night.

Midagahara can be accessed from Toyama by taking the Chitetsu (Toyama Country Railway), cable car, and bus. After doing Kiso Valley, you might do the Hida Valley (Takayama and Shirakawa-go are top destinations).

There are other ways to go near the mountains to see snow, like going to Kamikochi area from Takayama or Matsumoto, but there are people here who are specialists in this field...
