Help for First Timers??

Hi - my family (4 adults) are heading to Les Arc on 12/3. We are staying at Les Alpages de Chantel. I have skied before but it was many years ago. As complete novices could anyone give us advice on where to hire ski equipment and organize lessons. We had thought we might get a private instructor for the four of us and then the more eager could drift off as confidence grows. Other quesitons are - do we need ski passes from day one if we are just learning or would we only need to buy these later. Any help with intros would be much appreciated

There is a Skiset shop in the complex so this is the best place to hire skis.

Have you got a discount code? It is cheaper to rent online before you arrive than pay the on the spot price.

The web-site for Les Arcs gives information about lift passes and ski lessons.

Hi,

As JBart states there is a ski hire which would be the best to use, as for beginners shorter skis would suit best ( if you explain to the hire shop staff you are beginners they will supply shorter skis, and if you also give them your weight/s they should set the bindings accordingly to release correctly).

On the ski lessons side of things in Arc 1800 are the following....

Ecole du Ski Francais ( ESF) Chalet en front du Neige - +33 (0)4 79 07 40 31

Ecole du Ski Internationale Arc Adventures - Residence Les Tournevelles / Les Villards - +33 (0)4 79 07 60 02

Ecole du Ski Privilege - Magasin Basik Equipment / Residence Les Tournevelles/ Les Villards - +33 (0)4 79 07 23 38

You can also get lessons from the Polairestar Funiculair/Intersport (Bourg-St-Maurice)....

Initial Snow - Ecole du ski - +33 (0)6 73 51 44 19

And a local private instructor ( Bourg-St-Maurice) Mountain River High - Fabrice Bernier - +33 (0)6 14 35 55 67.

In Arc 1800 where the Les Alpages de Chantel is located the lifts marked on the Piste map numbered 20/21 Chantel and Lapin respectively ,access the novice/beginner slopes and are located near the residence.

If you send me your address by the private message facility I would only be too happy to send you a Les Arcs piste map, resort information booklet and touriste offiice DVD.

Many Regards

Jon.
