i am making a last minute trip and saw the fave hotel is being offered but after some digging about I can see its in the process of being built.

Is there anyone local that has seen the hotel or can give me an update on how the build is going???

we dont want to turn up and be welcomed by an empty shell!

many thanks in advance

Hi Rob

It's definately not an empty shell.

A month ago it looked as though the bedrooms were all fitted out but there was still landscaping work going on.

I should think that you will be OK

Have fun

Hi

Back home in sunny UK LOL

FAve hotel looks good & is in a pretty good location although not on the beach.

Beach is about a 10 min walk, as are some good eateries.

ok Mick,

thanks for the super quick reply!!!!! its a super last minute trip so finding somewhere on the beach is, as i have found out impossible, even something in Cenang is hard going. (We will be there over xmas)

we decided on Cenang area as there is some life and have read that Kuah isnt too great to stay in.

sorry to bother you again but can you recommend a good local malay restaurant - do they tend to use a lot of MSG?

hi. the chinese restaurants do use msg, in the main. most cheap restaurants do also - though mostly because they rely on bought in sauces and flavourings.

to avoid msg [taste powder] try local stalls which prepare and cook in front of you - at least you can see what is going in...

for a restaurant with a good range of food, from thai through middle-eastern to american - try maya on pantai tengah. they do not serve alcohol, but you can bring your own. their food is freshly prepared to a high standard, at a good price. also we found the turkish restaurant on jalan pantai tengah very good.

if you are sensitive to msg - avoid 'wonderland' in kuah.

Hi,

Was in Langkawi a week ago. They are still putting the finishing of the hotel but I bet it will be ready for LIMA 2011 scheduled on 6 -10 December 2011.

Fave Hotel is ready and already full with guests for LIMA (Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace). I had the liberty to help a good friend to some work here and the hotel looks good. But it's more of a higher class B & B. Not a resort though.

Happy Planning!
