hiking between Calella and Tamariu

am taking a large group to the Costa Brava in July 2013 and would like to organise a scenic short hike for them. I am considering hiking from Tamariu via Llafranc to Calella la Palafrugell. BUT I have some questions and would appreciate advice:

* is such a hike possible?

* is it scenic enough with good places to swim on the way?

* how far will the walk be?

* is there a hiking map available for this area?

All advice will be welcome!

It will take approx 31/2 hrs

Its a loveley walk with a cove for swimming about half way

Good shoes are required because there are a couple of steep sections

Fantastic views from the lighthouse just before you drop down into Llafranc

Probably a map from the tourist office

Hope this helps

From Llafranc to Tamariu 11kms, around 2 hours 45 minutes

Worth it, a cove to stop on the way.

There is a hiking map delivered by the Council

you can download the general one from the area,

although there are more detailed ones since I have a book with it

Hope this is helpful

I don't actually think that Tamariu to Calella is a nice enough walk to bother with. It's actually better the other way around, starting off from the lighthouse at Llafranc.

I'd do this instead.

Start at the Botanical Gardens at Cap Roig near Calella. If you're relying on public transport, you can take the little train from Calella or Llafranc up there.

I'd then take the costal footpath (the same one that eventually goes to Tamariu) to Llafranc via Calella. You could stop off in Calella for a swim and then have lunch or an early dinner in Llafranc.

Don't be tempted to walk up the hill to the lighthouse unless you are a very keen hiker. Take the little train up there if you want to go. There are superb views from the top.
