Day trip to Hakone area

We have a spare day in Tokyo and are thinking of doing a day trip to the Hakone area. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e5210.html.

We will be there on Saturday 14th May. I understand this is a popular tourist spot, but will it be very crowded?

Also is it feasible to do all this in one day? And be back in Shinjuku for pre-dinner drinks ;) ?

Thanks

Hakone is doable as a day trip from Shinjuku. http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e5200.html

It is possible to do a day trip but I would wait until you arrive in Tokyo because it's only worth the trip if its good weather. Nikko could be a good alternative.

Thanks for your replies.

I guess the weather will be a deciding factor.
