Advice needed for travelling the JR line

Hi, we are staying at Shinjuku and will travel to Harajuku and Shibuya

Though these places maybe walking distance, but due to the tiring shopping schedule, we will need to take the JR line back to our hotel in Shinjuku.

Since it is a circular line starts and ends at Shinjuku, is there 2 railway for us to take?

For example, from Shinjuku to Harajuku is just 1 stop away after Yoyohi station.

What about from Harajuku back to Shinjuku? Does the train cover the other stations, Shibuya, Ebisu etc before it bring us back to Shinjuku again?

No it does not. It is a circular line with trains travelling in both directions.
